 Meet Dr. Rebecca Berens

Dr. Rebecca Berens is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with expertise in Women's Health and Breastfeeding Medicine. She serves patients from newborns to the elderly, focusing on both the physical and mental well-being of each family member - perfect for patients looking for a lifetime of care and support. She treats each patient as an individual and tailors prevention and treatment plans to the needs of each patient rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Her office is welcoming to all, and her care is trauma-informed and weight-inclusive.

Dr. Berens grew up in the Houston area and received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Rice University. She continued her studies at Baylor College of Medicine where she earned her MD. She completed her residency training at Providence Hospital, affiliated with Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She graduated residency as the program's first obstetrics scholar with additional training in women's health and obstetrics. She went on to serve as Associate Clinical Director at Carl Moore Health Center in Philadelphia, PA before returning home to Houston. She was an Assistant Professor in the Family and Community Medicine department at Baylor College of Medicine where she taught medical students and residents while continuing to practice full-spectrum family medicine before she decided to open her own practice.

MY STORY

A note from the Doctor

I was called to medicine because I am passionate about helping people enjoy healthier lives. Through my residency and practice in underserved communities, I saw the need for a practice that accommodates those who cannot afford insurance or have high deductibles. Most importantly, I wanted to bring compassion and personalized support back into medical care.

“When families are healthy, wonderful things happen.”

I love building relationships with each family member, ensuring all voices are heard and individual needs are met. Since becoming a mother, I have developed a renewed interest in breastfeeding medicine and postpartum care. I believe high-quality fourth-trimester care can make a huge difference in helping children and families succeed.

I look forward to hearing your story!

Wishing you the best in health,
